Some information about PageRank and AuthorRank
Recently Google introduced AuthorRank. I think everyone of you know about PageRank. Do you? If you don't know let me tell you.
PageRank:
Google measure pages by page rank and it is obtained by getting links from other website to that page. This is link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page.
Those pages of website with good PageRank are more frequently indexed in search results and you can increase page rank of websites or of pages by getting backlinks to your websites or pages.
AuthorRank
AuthorRank works with Google plus because your Google+ profile is used for authorship markup.
Google authorship markup helped people for having their digital signature on their content. This also helped them by showing their information in search results. Now Google is ranking authors in the same way they were doing for PageRank. If you have better rank your content will be ranked top in search result. People with large number of good quality posts will get good AuthorRank as they are more visible to world they'll get better rank. This is also important because it could be use to see if user is a spammer or a serious author. Only serious authors will get high author rank due to good content.
From AuthorRank this conclusion is made that your website will be shown at top of search engine due to good AuthorRank and PageRank. If you have less PageRank but good AuthorRank and vice versa you'll still get good search engine appearance.
AuthorRank is also useful because mostly one page on web is copied thousands of times. So if you are author and your content is published again by someone new then you'll still get good ranking because mostly new bloggers or others who are new in this field try to copy content to make their website or blog. So if someone new copies your content due to AuthorRank you'll get your blog at top of search engine.
AuthorRank and PageRank are almost same because these both tell Google about your content's quality. Writing good and quality content will give you good page rank and definitely author rank. But author rank is increased even if you post content on some other website.
You can post some content on some famous websites to get backlinks to your website or blog which are good for SEO. In doing this you'll also increase your author rank. Author rank depends on number of posts that you made. Don't make spam posts for the sake of author rank.
You'll get good Page rank if you get quality backlinks from site having good page rank itself, by good quality of your content and also you should perform no malicious activity. Author rank will make your page rank authentic because good page rank could be made by only backlinks from other sites but author rank could not get such ranking. You need to work hard to get good author rank.
And one more thing for good author rank you should first connect your website with your Google+ account. You can use Google authorship markup for this purpose.
How to get authorship markup?
Well, this is not so difficult because only you have to do some simple steps to get authorship markup for your website or for your content.
There are two methods for Google authorship markup:
Method 1: Through email from the domain name
Method 2: Through linking your content to your Google+ profile
Through email from the domain name:
1. You should have email over the same domain name having your content i.e.you@yourdomain.com
2. Write your name with content that you create and it could be seen easily. ( By yourname or Author: yourname)
3. Then visit plus.google.com/authorship and give them email address that is on the domain (you@domain.com).
4. Post as much posts as you want; Google+ will link those to your profile and will show your image in search engines with your content. Email that you submit will be visible in contributor to section of your Google+ profile. You can change visibility of that email address and can make that visible for only yourself.
5. After this to confirm your connect with Google+ profile have a visit here google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets
Through linking your content directly to your Google+ profile:
1. Put link to your Google+ profile from the WebPages where you posted content. Edit HTML source of the website and put link using below formula.
a. <a href="profile_url?rel=author">Author's Google+</a>
b. In above code replace profile_url with your Google+ profile url and Author's Google+ with whatever text you want to appear.
2. After above steps add a link from your Google+ profile to your websites pages.
a. Edit the contributor to sections by clicking plus.google.com/me/about/edit/co
b. Add custom links and then add your website's URL or URL of the page where you contributed.
3. You can change visibility of the URL so that only you can see that.
4. After that click on save
After saving you may want to test is your content connected with your Google+ profile properly or not.
Visit google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets and type your website that you've written in contributor to section.
Your authorship markup will not appear in search results immediately but take some time. So be patient and be relaxed if you did above steps accurately. If you can see your authorship markup in google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets then you have done accurately. You don't need to do anything else.
